UltraFloat™ is a patent-pending process technology
UltraFloat™ DAF technology is a specialized design enhancement of the Hydroxyl ActiveFloat™ DAF used for shipboard dissolved air flotation (DAF) suspended solids removal onboard cruise vessels. The key process feature achieved in the UltraFloat model is the integration of advanced oxidation and germicidal disinfection processes within DAF technology.
The multi-stage UltraFloat system is a high efficiency solids/liquid separation process. Micro-bubbles are generated to agglomerate suspended particulates within the wastewater stream and float them to the surface. The gas used for flotation is a mixture of ozone and oxygen, providing double duty as oxidation of organics and provision of complete disinfection. The integration of UV disinfection processes not only ensures additional disinfection capabilities but also enhances ozone oxidation within UltraFloat equipment.
UltraFloat DAF technology offers the following advantages:
Shipboard Optimized Design
The dissolved air flotation system operates effectively even in rough seas; the process generates a high-density differential between the wastewater liquid and the foam/solids cap. The steep skimmer beach design and baffling configuration ensure efficient operation in list and roll conditions.
Odor free
The highly oxygenated environment does not allow for septic conditions and as such offensive odors are eliminated.
Reduced Solids Handling Requirements
The solids collected in the UltraFloat process have high solids concentration (3% - 7%); this reduces sludge handling to only once every six months.
Design and Operational Simplicity
The UltraFloat process uses no membranes or filters that require regular scheduled removal, replacement, maintenance, or cleaning.
No Chemicals, No Chlorine
UltraFloat equipment does not rely on any feed supply of coagulant chemicals or chlorine for operation or disinfection processes.
Resilient Process Operation
UltraFloat DAF performance is not affected by water temperature, can treat fresh water, sea water, and brackish water, and is compatible with low volume flush equipment.
Effluent discharged from UltraFloat equipment is clear, odor-free, completely disinfected, and supersaturated with oxygen; the high quality of effluent achieved enables CleanSea UltraFloat equipped vessels to safely discharge even in environmentally sensitive areas, or in port.
