Bench-Scale Simulation

In order to ensure process design optimization of their wastewater treatment system prior to investing in capital equipment, many clients initiate Hydroxyl's specialized bench-scale testing and engineering design services.

Bench-scale testing programs are extremely effective for preliminary process analysis for water and wastewater streams that are typically consistent in composition. Water samples generated at the client's facility or remediation site are shipped to the Hydroxyl Testing Facility for analysis using bench-scale ActiveCell™, PhotoStack™, and other processes for simultaneous testing of a range of targeted parameters.

Hydroxyl's laboratory scientists and technicians offer comprehensive expertise in performing bench-scale simulations for all ActiveCell™ and Photostack™ process configurations. Scientists and environmental engineers work collaboratively throughout the testing program to produce reliable data that is applied to the optimized design of full-scale water process systems.

Typical Bench-Scale Simulation Programs include:

ActiveCell450™ biofilm carrier under magnification
ActiveCell450™ biofilm carrier under magnification
  • Characterization of client supplied raw water samples
  • Several process runs under different conditions
  • Submittal of interim reports provided to clients
  • Direct communication with engineering and laboratory staff provided to clients throughout the simulation program
  • Several optimization and/or confirmation runs
  • Submittal of a final report with optimized full-scale design recommendations

All bench-scale programs are scalable to full-scale design for both ActiveCell™ biological and PhotoStack™ advanced oxidation processes.
